In March 2024, Dumbarra Consultancy Services proudly marked our 1-year anniversary with the unveiling of our newly wrapped vehicle, featuring original artwork by William Hewitt.

The Founder and Director of Dumbarra approached William to create a design grounded in our family’s Gangalidda-Garawa heritage and the Tiger Shark Dreaming that guides our story.
William, a respected Garawa artist, brought this vision to life, reflecting strength, resilience, movement and shared pathways, values that underpin Dumbarra’s purpose and the communities we serve across the Northern Territory.

We are honoured to showcase this artwork across our vehicle, website and uniforms. For us, incorporating Indigenous art is more than a visual feature, it represents story, responsibility and our commitment as a 100% Indigenous and Veteran-owned business.

The Story Behind Our Artwork
Dumbarra is named after the spiritual island in the Tiger Shark Dreaming of the Gangalidda and Garawa people. In the Dreaming, the Tiger Shark journeys west, carving rivers, naming country, and carrying cycad nuts to share with his people. His journey represents strength, resilience, responsibility and the sharing of resources for community growth.

Our heritage is Gangalidda-Garawa, and like the Tiger Shark, our family journeyed from Northern Queensland to the Northern Territory over generations, building connection and opportunity along the way. The Wallaby, also present in the design, represents strength, boundaries and self-determination.

The artwork was created by Garawa artist William Hewitt, bringing this Dreaming into visual form. Through this design, Dumbarra carries story, culture and purpose — supporting businesses and communities to grow and thrive.

This recognition affirms our purpose to deliver meaningful outcomes, create sustainable opportunities, and contribute to resilient local economies. We are incredibly proud to stand alongside other Blak excellence leaders driving impact within our communities.
NBN Innovate Grants Program 2025
Dumbarra Consultancy Services was proud to be named a finalist in the NBN Innovate with nbn® Grants Program.
While we did not take home the award, being recognised at a national level was an incredible achievement for our team. The event provided us with the opportunity to travel to Sydney, participate in roundtable discussions, connect with other inspiring finalists, and build valuable networks across Australia.
It was a powerful experience that reinforced our commitment to innovation, regional growth, and strengthening opportunities for Indigenous businesses in the Northern Territory.
